The Memphis Belle Swing Orchestra
Photo

Not many bands can boast that their first performance featured singing star Harry Connick Jnr, but such is the heritage of the Memphis Belle Swing Orchestra. Originally formed in 1990 to appear in Sir David Putnam's film 'Memphis Belle' the impact was so extraordinary that Greg Francis decided to keep them together, and has never looked back.

Logo This superb band consists of top class musicians all dressed in American 8th Army Uniform, as well as sounding fantastic they look really good. With the stage decorated in giant American and British flags and an enormous 8th American badge in the centre of the stage, the visual impact is something else.

Vocalist Paul Lynas appeared on 'Stars In Their Eyes' as Harry Connick Jnr. He sings all the Harry Connick favourites such as 'It had Too Be You','Recipe for Making Love' and the most popular song from the film 'Danny Boy' which recently brought the house down at the National Concert Hall in Dublin. All these arrangements fit perfectly into the 1940's programme making a perfect mixture of old and new big band sounds.

The amazing Memphis Belle Lindy Hoppers complete the performance making a truly unforgettable evening of big band swing.

THE ORCHESTRA OF THE 91st BOMB GROUP (H)
UNITED STATES 8th ARMY AIR FORCE

Directed by Capt. Greg Francis

Featuring the superb vocal sounds of Lynn Kennedy and Paul Lynas with the fabulous Memphis Belle 'Lindyhoppers' The Memphis Belle Swing Orchestra is the very same orchestra which featured in the Blockbuster Movie "Memphis Belle". Licensed in America as the only Memphis Belle Swing Orchestra in the world (don't forget there are several 'official' Glenn Miller Orchestras in the world) this is the only British based orchestra of its type which features specifically young and vibrant musicians - without long hair, beards or earrings! This is not a band of tired old pros!

Lindy Hoppers The latest dance craze sweeping the nation is the Swing Jive, so why not have the fabulous Memphis Belle Swing Orchestra and 'Lindyhoppers' to get the party going. Since the film, the Orchestra has appeared on BBC TV 'Pebble Mill' and Granada TV's 'This Morning' show. Boy singer Paul Lynas appeared as "Harry Connick Jr." on 'Stars in their eyes" and the Orchestra featured in the TV series "Ain't Misbehavin" with ROBSON & JEROME! Playing the ever popular hit music from the Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey Bands and many other orchestras of the 1940's era, the Orchestra are dressed in the 8th AAF uniform, the stage is decorated with large British and American flags and the giant insignia of the 8th AAF creating a nostalgic 'wartime' feel - just how 'Granny' described it! The Lindy Hop was the American name for what became known as the Jive or Jitterbug in the UK.

In conjunction with the Orchestra we provide the Memphis Belle Lindyhoppers who perform their exciting style of dance either as a 'cabaret' feature or they will mingle with the dancers and get them jiving. All the guys are dressed in American 8th Army uniforms just like the Swing Orchestra! Together with the Memphis Belle Swing Orchestra this is without doubt the most authentic dance party or stage show you will ever see in the UK!
