| The Original Tribute to the Carpenters |
|
Now in the nineties Wendy Roberts recreates the sound and atmosphere so sadly missed by the millions of adoring fans. The Tribute to the Carpenters show has, since its inception in 1992, achieved vast popularity. Playing to packed theatres across the British Isles and abroad, the show has enjoyed capacity audiences at the London Palladium, Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Fairfield Halls Croydon, Festival Hall Glasgow, Queens Hall Belfast and a prolific number of other major venues. TV appearances include This Morning with Richard and Judy, The Big Breakfast, GMTV, Clive Anderson, Irelands' Kelly Show, Selina Scotts' Entertainment Express, and numerous regional entertainment and news shows. Wendy Roberts is perhaps best known for her lead vocals on Mike Oldfields Platinum album and subsequent world tour, in addition to her extensive radio and TV advertising work. A notable highlight in the history of a Tribute to the Carpenters was the appearance during ITV's Entertainment UK of Richard Carpenter himself announcing "What I have heard is very good, very accurate and I find it flattering !" The show, which incorporates a seven piece orchestra has prompted glowing reviews from the national press including the Daily Telegraph, Daily Mirror, Sunday People, Sunday Express and The Star; all of whom have presented complete articles on the show - such has been the strength of public interest. Wendy's vocal resemblance to Karen Carpenter has been described as "astonishing", "uncanny", "moving", and even "eerie". |
