 "Rodney the Rooster is every kiddies friend" is the opening
line of the Rodney Rooster Song, and this certainly is the case as Rodney Rooster is destined to be
the National Capaign for Child Safety.
Rodney Rooster was devised by Alan Avon, ex lead vocalist of the
60's Group "Hedgehoppers Anonymous" who had the number one hit "Good News
Week". He devised the character Rodney Rooster and wrote the song song initially to help
Cheshire Police get across the message of Road Safety in a fun way that children would understand,
and together with Cheshire Police travelled around schools and shows in and around Cheshire
promoting Child Safety. The Show is called "The Rodney Rooster Road Safety Road Show",
and in 1998 was a tremendous success.
"The Rodney Rooster Song" will hopefully be out on record in 1999 and that will
make Rodney a household name and will help to spread this very serious message to young children
nationally, keeping them safe and sound as Rodney would like.
